@ Good Dirt Dear Friends of Good Dirt, This is the last week of our spring term of
classes and our 4-week Maymester classes
start up again next week. We have
several sections of introductory wheel classes that focus either on cylinder
forms like cups and mugs, or open forms like bowls and plates. These classes are a great way to start in
on the wheel or to get back in practice if you’ve been away from clay
for a while. We also have some
specialized topics like Majolica tile-making, throwing hollow enclosed forms,
decorating pots on the wheel, and finishing the bottoms of pots in creative
ways. Kim is also offering a four-week glass
fusing class for those interested in cutting, fusing, and slumping glass in
the kiln (a significant savings over four individual glass workshops, too!). Summer camp
registration is
well under way and some of the earlier weeks are getting full. Please give us a call to see if your choice
of weeks has spaces left and sign up soon to make sure you get your first
choice. That schedule is also
available on our website. A word of
caution … be sure to link from our main page, www.gooddirt.net. If
you google our summer camp schedule, you might
bring up a previous year’s schedule due to the mysteries of search
engine results. To register, please
print out our registration form and send it in (or bring it by) with your
check payable to Good Dirt. New this
summer…music lessons! We will
be setting up an air-conditioned private lesson space in the gallery/office
section of Good Dirt, and I will be offering a very limited number of
30-minute and 1-hour private lessons on cello and mandolin.

Children and adult learners are both welcome and
the emphasis will be on fun, playing by ear, and learning to read music. Good Dirt will also be teaming up with the
Folk Studio to offer lessons on guitar, old-time banjo, and fiddle. Call Good Dirt at 706-355-3161 for info on
availability and rates. Last but not least, don’t forget about the Gallery @ Good Dirt when you start
looking for that perfect Mother’s Day gift. We’ve got lots of exquisite vases to
make that bouquet of flowers really special.
The Gallery is open daily from 9-5…just enter through the clay
studio if the front door isn’t open.
