What it is:

Artists and students from the studio will be donating their pottery, along with some "guest artists" in other media from the community. Everything will be set out in front of the studio and folks can come and donate directly to relief orgs via QR codes, so 100% will go where it's needed. There are no suggested prices, as we always trust the folks in Athens will go above and beyond to help when help is needed. People have lost everything. Lives have changed in unimaginable ways. Let’s do what small bit we can to help them rebuild and start the road to recovery. Let’s do for them what we hope someone would do for us if we lost our homes, our livelihoods, our town. I know the people of Athens are the most generous and kind and loving folks around. Hope to see some of you Saturday.

When & Where:

This Saturday, October 5th, from 10am-5pm at Good Dirt Clay Studios 485 Macon Highway, Athens. We will be setting up donations right up until 10am, so please no “early birding”, we want this to be fair to everyone who has the heart to come out and donate. We’ll be packing up whatever is left at 5pm.

How to donate if you can’t make it:

According to folks on the ground, these are the best places to donate to have an impact. All the links go directly to the orgs, so you know the money will be going where it can do the most good:

Work Central Kitchen (They go into disaster zones and provide food for those in need, which, during a disaster, is a lot of folks. Since NC doesn’t have power/water yet, this is a huge basic need to be met)

Red Cross, North Carolina Chapter (They do a bit of everything, and provide all sorts of humanitarian aid, in whatever capacity is needed)

Craft Emergency Relief Fund (Since the areas hit in NC are creative places brimming with, and defined by art, this org is one that specifically provides emergency help to artists. Since we usually don’t have loads of resources, this helps with bills, rebuilding, etc)
